David Brewer Fourth Graders Visit Kauffman Stadium

Fourth graders from David Brewer Elementary had the chance of a lifetime when they visited Kauffman Stadium for their recent field trip to learn history, science, and math through baseball. Students learned about how the angle in which a baseball bat hits the ball decides where in the field the ball will travel with the help of a video featuring Eric Hosmer. They were able to test this theory with a table top baseball field. Students learned about the history of baseball equipment by comparing old equipment with modern day equipment. Students also learned about all the muscles in the body that help a baseball player play their best and had to come up with exercises for each muscle they learned about. After the classes and lunch, students got to take a tour of the stadium where they saw such places as the Diamond Club, the press box, the visitor's locker room, the press room, and the Royals' dug out box.
