School Start/End Time Adjustments for 2017-18 School Year

During its regular meeting on Wednesday, July 19, the Leavenworth Board of Education voted in favor of adding 10 minutes of instructional time to the school day at all grade levels. Beginning this year, classes at Leavenworth High School and Warren Middle School will begin at 7:50 a.m. and release at 3:00 p.m. Elementary students will begin at 8:10 a.m. and release at 3:20 p.m.

David Brewer Students Take a Little Off the Top

Several students at David Brewer got to try their hands at being a barber as they shaved the head of their assistant principal, Kevin Warner's. Mr. Warner agreed to let students shave his head if they lowered recovery room visits by 25% in the month of March. Students reached their goal, and Mr. Warner is now bald.

David Brewer Families Attend School Carnival

It was a fun Friday evening for students and families at David Brewer Elementary last week. The school's PTO put on its annual school carnival for a big crowd. The fun included a games, prizes, face painting, and a clown making balloon animals. The carnival is a fundraiser for PTO and included a silent auction with a number of great items donated by local businesses. Thanks to the generous bids of those in attendance, PTO raised lots of money to support students and staff at David Brewer.

David Brewer Students Get Excited for State Testing

This morning students at David Brewer were encouraged to get excited about and do their best on the upcoming State Assessments. The school hosted a pep assembly which featured performances from LHS student groups including Power and Life, cheerleading, and POC. Staff members also held a friendly competition to get students excited and have a little fun in the process.

Military Mentors Get Into the Dr. Seuss Spirit

It wasn't just students and staff at David Brewer students and staff who got into the Dr. Seuss spirit for Read Across America. Some of the school's Military Mentors who volunteer regularly at the school also got in on the fun, dressing up as The Cat in the Hat and Thing 1 and Thing 2. Students enjoyed getting to chase these Dr. Seuss characters around on the playground this week.

Military Mentors Discuss Kindness with Brewer Kindergarten Students

The Military Mentors at David Brewer Elementary spent time in Jodie Brice's Kindergarten class this week talking with students about kindness and the importance of getting along with others. Military Mentors are soldiers from Fort Leavenworth who volunteer their time talking with and mentoring students at David Brewer. David Brewer students look forward to the mentors coming to the school and interacting with them.
